About Xoloitzquintlis (sho-lo)
Our store is named in honor of Xoloitzquintlis (pronouned 'sholo'), the oldest dog in the Americas. Archeological evidence suggests they accompanied the first humans to cross the Bering Strait more than 3,000 years ago, then lived in the jungles of Mexico, where they were prized by ancient cultures. Xolos were beloved by Aztec royalty who considered them protectors in both life and death who ward off evil spirits. They were also known to have healing qualities to warm our hooman campanions.
Today, the tradition of man's best friend continues in the Americas with a huge variety of breeds. And it all began with Xolo.
Meet Estrella, Our New Groomer
We are delighted to welcome a talented local groomer to our team. Estrella has been grooming our furry friends in Santa Teresa for the past 10 years - to rave reviews! She studied at a top notch school in San Jose and keeps up-to-date with works shops for special breeds, She handles everything from Pomeranian and Schnauzer, to Doodles and Chow, to everyone in between!
